Overview
Within Wat San Chao, devotees honor a Chinese-born rice-mill owner remembered for his generosity, ritual knowledge and advice to merchants. The shrine is a particular Thai-Chinese devotional place, distinct from the surrounding Buddhist temple.

Look for the hall honoring Nathi Thongsiri within the Wat San Chao grounds. The surrounding market and neighboring temple are separate parts of the riverside setting; ask staff for the shrine rather than assuming every altar has the same dedicatee.
Context and lineage
Thai accounts describe Ngow Kim Koi, later known as Nathi Thongsiri, progressing from hired work to the rice trade and his own mill. He helped restore the local shrine and advised people about feng shui without charging them. A story reported in Thai Rath tells how a storm threatened a shrine celebration; he performed an incense rite, the sky cleared, and witnesses spread accounts of his power.

Devotees pray before his image for business prosperity and relief from debt. Reported offerings include oranges and tea; some keep a blessing talisman at home or in their shop. Ask attendants which offerings and observances are appropriate during your visit.
