Overview
Sefa-utaki has no central building: limestone formations, trees, openings, orientation, forest paths, prayer spaces, and the Sangui form its sacred architecture. Paths lead toward views associated with Kudaka Island, held in Ryukyuan tradition as a source of spiritual authority. The grove asks for attention different from a constructed shrine.
During the Ryukyu Kingdom, the kikoe-ōgimi and other priestesses conducted central royal rites here, placing women's ritual authority at the site's heart.
