Context and lineage
In the version published by Incredible India, Brahma defeats the demon Vajranabha with a lotus. Its falling petals create the lake. Brahma then prepares a sacrifice, but his wife Savitri has not arrived when the rite must begin. He takes another bride so that the ceremony can proceed. Savitri returns, discovers what has happened and pronounces a curse limiting his worship; Pushkar remains the place where he may be honored. The account explains the relationship between lake, sacrifice and temples.
It should not be read as proof that no other Brahma temples exist.
The Savitri temple on the hill and Brahma temple in town form distinct parts of this religious landscape. Their association with the story does not make either building the whole lake’s identity. Existing temple records remain separate.

Pilgrims worship at the ghats, with particular importance attached to the Kartik full moon. A visitor can observe respectfully without assuming an invitation to take part. Ask what a proposed service involves before agreeing to it.
