The temple lies within Mumbai’s dense Prabhadevi neighborhood. The central purpose of a devotional visit is darshan, a reverent encounter with the deity’s image, rather than a tour through an empty monument.
Context and lineage
The temple trust records the consecration of the shrine on November 19, 1801. Its central black-stone image shows Ganesha with four arms and a trunk turning to his right; the figures of Riddhi and Siddhi stand alongside him. For worshippers, these companions evoke prosperity and accomplishment. The trust identifies Ganesha as the remover of obstacles, explaining why a new enterprise can begin with prayer here.
The recorded consecration should not be confused with broader, less certain claims about the shrine’s antiquity.

Devotees come for darshan and bring their wishes to Ganesha, particularly on Tuesdays and auspicious Chaturthi days. Participation follows the Mumbai temple’s arrangements.
