At Sidi Harazem east of Fez, mineral springs are gathered into a thermal complex designed by Jean-François Zevaco. Its sculptural concrete buildings surround a water tradition older than the architecture.

The conservation project describes a holy-water history associated with Sidi Harazem. Personal testimony also places prayer within the use of the baths, rather than treating every visit as leisure alone.
Experience and orientation
Porticoes, water features and a circular pool organize the thermal landscape. The map identifies this complex; the nearby mausoleum and the saint’s tomb in Fez are separate places.
Context and lineage
Architect Aziza Chaouni recalls coming here as a child with her grandmother, who bathed, drank spring water and prayed for relief from rheumatism. In the account published by Architectural Record, that remembered visit connects family devotion with a place Chaouni later worked to conserve. It is one person’s testimony, not evidence of a medical cure.
Getty records that construction displaced residents whose families had lived on the land for generations. Later conservation work involved local people and the market community as well as the buildings.
