Rajim is on the banks of river Mahanadi, and about 70 kilometers southwest of Sirpur also on the banks of Mahanadi (Sirpur is referred in early Indian manuscripts as Sripura, Shripura, the later era capital of Somavanshis and Dakshina Koshala).
